WAKEBOARD TOWER HULL MOUNT INTERIOR BACKING PLATES
If you haven't taken a look at the inside the hull of your boat, it's not as smooth and/or flat as the outside of your boat. Most boats have the their hulls with a fiberglass chopper-gun. This is a gun that shoots fiberglass fibers and resin inside of the hull mold. It is then pressed into the mold to to make a single thicker layer of fiberglass that is the hull of your boat. In some cases the boat manufactures will also lay down fiberglass cloth to further strengthen areas prone to high stress on their boat hulls. They would certainly to this in all the areas where the tower would mount to the hull of their boat. Your boat probably doesn't have these reinforced areas, so it would be wise to do this yourself.
All of the manufacturers provide backing plates for their towers. What is supplied is generally a small aluminum plate or washer. Are these small backing plates good enough to mount your wakeboard tower? Our opinion at Wakeboard Tower Installation is no.
Take the extra time and add some fiberglass or plywood backing to the inside of your hull.
